Offset printing: a widely used printing technique in which the inked image on a printing plate is printed on a rubber cylinder and then transferred (i.e., offset) to paper or other material. It is the primary method for large-scale book printing.
Hi! My name is Roi Baron, I’m a historian, writer and book collector of modern first editions. I live and work in New York.
I hold a master’s degree in the History of Decorative Arts and Design from Parsons School of Design NY (where I later also taught for several years) and B.Des. in Communication Design from Shenkar College, Israel.
Over the past twenty-something years, I have designed books, taught them to students, and collected them. The posts on this site are recommendations for some of the books that have inspired me the most over the years in various fields of art history and the humanities.
The Offset brings together all of my professional skills as a teacher, scholar, and designer. I wrote and designed the site from start to finish. It is a true labor of love.
“We may learn much simply from living and working; but the enduring materials of knowledge, prepared for us through centuries of thought and labor, are stored for our use in books.”
